Welcome to a Public Information Meeting
WHO
DECIDES THE FUTURE OF MONTREAL?
IS
YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD NEXT?
Griffintown, a historic
neighbourhood settled by mostly Irish immigrants in the early nineteenth
century, is about to change into a megaproject with
giant highrises, big-box stores and streets geared to
cars instead of people.
Mayor Tremblay violated
the spirit of his own past recommendations for consultation on urban
development.
Citizens were not
allowed to publicly question submissions.
The city’s Office de consultation publique was kept out of the process.
The concerns of the
Southwest borough's own urban planning service
were ignored.
The Montreal Citizen
Forum calls for real dialogue over the way our communities are developed.
In Griffintown, we want a people-friendly neighbourhood with
mixed- use housing, small streets, locally-owned shops and a human scale. People
fought to preserve the integrity of the Milton-Parc
area and won!
WE MUST NOT ALLOW GRIFFINTOWN
TO BECOME
A MODEL FOR DEVELOPER-DRIVEN
URBANISM.
